Spinach Burgers Made with Chickpeas

spinach burger

I wanted something different for dinner, I have made blackbean burgers, mushroom burgers and sweet potato burgers.
Don’t ask me why I wanted to try Spinach Burgers. Well I made them for dinner tonight and they were good.

Of course , I added more herbs and spices to the dish than it required. I am not a plain salt and pepper girl. And I am glad I added Turmeric and Cumin and Black pepper.

They were good and help up in the frying pan.

Here is the recipe from Cru Bay Publishing Inc.

15-oz garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup of baby chopped fresh spinach
2 scallions including the green parts too.
1 clove of garlic ,crush1/4 cup of unbleached all-purpose flour (which held them together)

In a food processor, combine garbanzo beans, spinach, scallions, garlic, cumin, turmeric and flour.
Pulse on/off several times to blend well.
Add black pepper and more seasonings and process again.
Next I shaped into 6 patties about 1/2 inch thick.

In a large non-stick skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of oil over medium -high heat . Add burger and cook until browned, about 4 minutes on each side.
It called for sauce, but, I don’t like tahini, so I just used my Cesar Salad dressing about one teaspoons.

It was different but, good.
