Sorry, I know this information is late, due to the storm, my lights and land phone went down. I can live without the air-conditioner,but, to live without a working refrigerator . I had to throw away meats and poultry.
In the past, I manage to save my food, but this time, NO. I had to throw away meats, poultry and some other foods too. For those who have an extra freezer Kudos to you.
So , many people , restaurants owners and fast food shops had to close down. You think, with th latest technology , man can invent a better system.
However, to prevent unecessary wastage,
Have an extra freezer.
Have a generator
Buy canned goods.
Buy canned fruits, or peanut butter and crackers for snacks.
Keep your emergency numbers close to you.
And have plenty of extra water on hand.
